Our extra thick mounts are cut from 3.5mm thick (3500 micron) whitecore acid free mount card, as opposed to standard mounts, which are only 1.4mm or in some cases thinner.

Please choose your size category (based on the outside measurements of the mount), and whether you would like to order just the mount, or a mount, backing mount and cello wrap (B&C) from the drop down menu. Please note: the backing mount will be of standard thickness 1400 mount card. The cello wrap will come as a bag closest to the mount size, with any excess cello easily taped on the back for presentation.

How to Measure for Your Custom Mount
1. Measuring the Mount (Outside Size)
• Always measure from the back of your frame, not the visible glass at the front. This means measuring the backboard or glass size. The visible front glass is smaller due to the frame rebate, so don’t measure that.
2. Measuring the Aperture (Window Size)
• The aperture is the opening in your mount that shows your artwork.
• Your image should overlap the aperture by about 3mm on each side so it stays in place.
Example: A 20 cm × 20 cm image needs an aperture of 19.4 cm × 19.4 cm.
• Make sure to calculate the exact aperture size before ordering.
3. Bottom Border “Weighting”
• When a framed picture with equal borders is hung, an optical illusion called foreshortening can make the bottom border look narrower.
• To fix this, it’s common to add 0.5 cm extra to the bottom border. If you want this adjustment, please indicate “weighting” in the personalisation options.
• If you don’t request it, your aperture will be centered
Tips for an accurate order:
• Always double-check your measurements.
• Measure the back of your artwork or backing board, not the front.
• Decide if you want weighting for a visually balanced look.
